and pioneering spirit have provided us with a prosperous
and progressive province, rich in heritage and diverse in cultures
The Alberta Genealogical
acknowledges the contribution made by Marion Sim in
the creation of
this index. Funding for the project was made possible
by a bequest from
the estate of Charles Douglas Denney (1901-2002) to
Genealogical Society - Edmonton Branch.
This all-name index contains all of the names that appear throughout the pages of selected Alberta local history books held in Edmonton by the Alberta Genealogical Society and the AGS Edmonton Branch library. Thus it captures the names of people, organizations and places that are mentioned in books which previously had no index at all, as well as those that are buried in the stories of neighbours and therefore may not have appeared in any previous book index.
To help determine which Alberta History you may need also see "Alberta Histories" included here in a pdf download. This document presents both an 'Alphabetical Listing of Local Histories by Book Title' as well as 'Local Histories listed by Place Name'.
The following information was extracted from the local history books:
NOTE: Use the Advanced Search facility on the search screen to find spelling variations of names, search for book title and other items.
The local history books included in this database are held at the Alberta Genealogical Society’s library in Edmonton.
